So I am very ready for the weekend already. My husband is buying my a tripod after work today so I could create a makeup tutorial tomorrow night while doing my makeup for New Years. It will be my first tutorial that I will hopefully put on youtube~ (if the quality is ok!). I am excited though.
Tomorrow I am going to get my hair cut. I have shoulder length hair, and right now its looking kind of BLEH. Its healthy-”ish”, but the ends need a trim. I also want the stylist to add some pretty waves for tomorrow night…

I picked up some new earrings from Wink in Georgetown too today. They are by Elizabeth Cole and are so cool . I couldn’t find the exact ones I bought, but I did find ones online that came close.
I always tend to add something that brings a bit of “rocker” or “edge” to my look. My outfit is actually very feminine and still, I needed to pick up these earrings because I couldnt just wear typical chandelier earrings, studs, or a necklace. These earrings really adds the finishing touch to my look, and wraps it all up! DONE!
Some people who pull off the looks I am always trying to emulate:

She looks ridiculous in EVERYTHING she puts on. She has the most amazing legs and her makeup is always so subtle, yet complimentary.

She likes to try new things, which I really like. I fell in love with her in Blue Crush...and she never could look bad. Even if she tried.
Whose looks do you love!????
So, this is my first post to introduce myself, to anyone who comes by this site. I decided to start this blog, not just because I am starting my own business called Strategicskin, but to connect with other bloggers and get involved, finally. I have been dreaming about blogging for a long time now, and just never knew how to get started. Its pretty simple-ha. I mean, Its nice just writing, and I kind of wish I started this earlier! OH WELL, better late than never, right?
So, I am really getting excited for New Year’s! I am not usually this excited for New Years (I usually think its over-rated), however, this year , we (my husband Zack and I) are going out to dinner with 16 other couples at a restaurant called 1905 in DC, and then going bar hopping after wards. Its just something different then what we would typically do. Like go to a house party, or go out to dinner by ourselves, and then going to meet up with people.
I have been thinking about what makeup I am going to use. My skirt is the color of rose-gold, so I know I want to use eyeshadows that are both rose and gold. I don’t have the MAC pigment in rose gold, or the cream eyeshadow by Laura Mercier in rose gold, so I will be making my own. I was thinking I’ll use Urban Decay eyeshadow in X (gold), and Scratch (rose color); I will also go get some false lashes, of course. As for blush, I am definitely going to use the NARS blush in Oasis, which I think gives such a warm rosy glow to my skin. For lips, I’m going to get a new lipgloss, since I am due for one. I want to check out the new NARS gloss in Oasis. It should go nicely with the blush.
Well, have a wonderful Wednesday, and please let me know if you have been thinking about your outfit, hair and makeup for New Years? Whats your vision?

Nars blush in Oasis

I am wearing this, but in a short skirt. Its also by Halston Heritage. I am obsessed with the color!

2011 will be something special!
I love reading interviews about what models or celebrities use on their skin. Why? Because I want to try what they use (if it isn’t THAT expensive) because it’s their job to keep their skin looking at its best, and you know its going to be something good.
Daria Werbowy is one of my all time FAVORITE models.
Her skin always looks ABSOLUTELY flawless.
Enjoy!!

EC: What is the first step in your morning beauty routine?
DW: I splash water on my face and then immediately moisturize.
EC: What is your nightly beauty ritual?
DW: I always clean my face thoroughly and apply lots of moisturizer.
EC: Can you tell us of any personal beauty tricks?
DW: I’ll admit it, I spend a little bit of time in the sun. But I always wear a sunblock.
EC: Do you have any distinguishing features?
DW: I have a tatoo of little waves on one of my big toes.
EC: If you wanted to look ultra-seductive, what make-up would you use to accomplish this look?
DW: Black liner applied to the inside of the eye for maximum impact.
EC: What do you like most about yourself?
DW: My eyes. I like my feet, too.
EC: What do you like the least about yourself?
DW: It depends on my mood, really! When I was young, I was taller than all the other children and I got called “Daddy Long Legs” and “Olive Oyle”. My arms are also huge.
EC: What little indulgence do you allow yourself from time-to-time?
DW: Sailing. It is the best way to be close to nature and to recover and relax after a hard day’s work. It makes me feel great.
EC: Perfume you cannot live without?
DW: Hypnôse of course!
EC: What is your overall beauty philosophy?
DW: The beauty I try to embody is one that isn’t pre-fabricated, one that is more of an emotive beauty … that of the soul, a truer form.
EC: What is the best beauty advice anyone has ever given you?
DW: My grandmother used lemon juice as a toner and cleanser. She squeezed it onto a cotton pad and cleansed her face with it. Once her skin is dry, she’d rinse with cold water. It works wonders for your skin.
Also, my mom has always used Nutrix, created in 1935 by Lancôme. It’s the best nourishing cream, especially in cold climates like you get in Canada!
EC: What are your make-up bag essentials?
DW: A toothbrush and a few of my favourite Juicy Tubes.
EC: Do you have any favourite beauty products?
DW: Bi facial make-up remover to get all of the products off of my face after a photo shoot, Aqua Fusion moisturizer and my trusted Juicy Tubes (all from Lancôme).
